If you want to get a SD license you need to pass the PSI multiple-choice exam on SD Law, then apply for your SD license. The testing site is: https://test-takers.psiexams.com/sdre
Your SD license will be the same level license you have in another state (Salesperson, Broker Associate, Broker). IF that is a salesperson license and IF you become a SD resident, you cannot RENEW as a salesperson. Before renewing your license you will need to upgrade your license to Broker Associate by taking a 40-hour Broker Upgrade class. (Yes I teach them.) It will count as the education you need for license renewal. If your current license is Broker Associate or Broker, you will not need that course.

Fingerprint cards must accompany your application. The cards need to be the SDREC cards. You can request physical cards from us or SDREC. Their application gives information for online fingerprinting.
Fill out EVERY line on your application. BE COMPLETELY HONEST!!!

Test will include questions on actions which could get you in trouble. Pay attention to agency and contract law.
Test will also cover Fair Housing as SD law states we will follow all federal laws.
Disciplinary actions from SDREC can result from improper actions. Know consequences SDREC could impose.
You are also tested over national principles which apply to South Dakota such as agency, closing math, and math pro-rations including property taxes.
Property taxes in SD are paid in arrears. Let us know if you would like a property tax example math video.
Typical test questions will have a core problem and also distractor information. Read the question, determine the core problem, then read the answers while ignoring the distractors.
Also be sure to read ALL of the answers. There may be two answers which work, you want the best one. There may not be any that are great answers, you want the best available.
