Your license renewal period is a two-year period. You can take your education anytime during that period.
For each of the first two renewal cycles you need 30 hours of classes. The state calls these renewal periods post licensing (PLI and PLII). The classes are the same as the ones called continuing education (CE) however the only ones which count as PL credits have to be approved as ‘Required’. They can be any required courses you like.
You need 24 hours of continuing education (CE). Of the 24-hours at least 12 hours must be ‘Required’. The remaining 12 hours can be any combination of ‘Required’ or ‘Elective’
On the home page of the real estate commission website choose the Licensee log in button which takes you to the login page at this link: https://sdrec.sd.gov/registration/login.aspx. Follow the instructions to sign in. Choose ‘View Education Summary’ then push ‘GO’ at bottom of list.
All classes are Mountain Time. Classes in this section may be attended on zoom camera (real time) or in person.

Code of Ethics for REALTORS class Works as CE and Post-license renewal credits.
It also works as NAR ethics requirements. We will send a Certificate of Completion to you and your board of REALTORS.
We will be using the 2024 Code of Ethics from NAR.

Broker training covers leadership, items to consider when starting a brokerage, and SD License Law.
This course, along with two years active experience, allows a Broker Associate licensee to request a Broker license during 2024. Starting 2024 a Broker Associate will need two years active experience, a 24-hour Responsible Broker class within six months of requesting Broker license.
Students must attend both days, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm mountain time. Students can attend in-person or using Zoom. All students need to use online device (computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone) for final test.

This is an updated version of the SD Law for Property Management. It includes an overview of SD laws for property managers include leases, evictions and agency. It is a module of the Responsible Broker class and is taught during that class as CE/PL license renewal credits as well as by itself. This will be taught during the Oct 20-23 ’24-in-a-week’ Session is Mountain time.

A look at the importance, and looking at processes for company policies, procedures, HR and intentional ethics. It is a module of the Responsible Broker class and taught during that class as CE/PL license renewal credits. Session is 1:00-5:00 pm Mountain time.

At the end of the month the exercise concludes with the student manually doing trust account reconciliations for both an ‘Owners Rents’ trust account and a ‘Tenant Security Deposit’ trust account. It is a module of the Fundamentals of Property Management class and taught during that class as CE/PL license renewal credits. Session is 1:00-4:00 pm Mountain time.
All classes are Mountain Time. Classes in this section, other than the Negotiating class, may be attending on zoom camera (real time) or in person.

This course is in-person only and not available on Zoom. Normally taught by Scott Lawhun. Use curiosity in basic negotiation techniques to create win-win deals for agents who want happy clients without needing to be super negotiators. Come away with tools to build your business to a five-star level.
